Our Father's Day trip was really good! We went around town with Evan, tried on backpack carriers for when he's too heavy for the front carrier (which is right about now, he's 17.3 pounds already!!). He loved going around in them. We also went to eat some awesome and fierce sushi (there's no sushi place in our town), and had a good night's sleep.
The next day we went to Bab.iesRUs/To.ysRUs and bought a few toys and feeding supplies (plates, spoons, sippy cups) just to be ready for next month. Can you believe we start solids next month? I can't.
And then it was time to pick up my friend Jenny from work, and to drive to where Evan would stay for the night. Everything was fine, I was fine, the place and Jenny's family were fantastic, I knew he would be well taken care of. I had to get a few extra snuggles though, and off we went.
The drive back to our hotel was interesting. I had a feeling like I've never felt in my life. It was like leaving an arm behind. Part of me was very calm and relaxed, knowing Evan would be great. The other part was on the verge of a panic attack. Full blown panic attack. Ultimately, I kept thinking I just needed a beer, pronto!
Well, I didn't get it right away, we did an awful lot of walking before deciding on a place to eat (and drink) because Josh wanted me to decide (even though I told him I was in no mood no make decisions). But we finally got a beer, and after that I felt a lot better. I even managed to only send one text to check on him before the baseball game, and that was it. So all in all, I think I did pretty well ;)
Jenny sent me a pic of Evan giggling, so that helped. The baseball game was a lot of fun, especially since I could drink this time around (last time we went to a game, I was pregnant). The whole trip was very enjoyable. We got to stay up late, sleep in, take a shower without any hurry. Good times.
Evan didn't do so good. He slept well the first part of the night, but then he wouldn't stay asleep unless he slept in someone's arms. So our dear friends didn't sleep as well, bless their hearts.
All in all, it was a good weekend. And Josh enjoyed our time without baby, which was the ultimate goal. We're starting to think about the next trip!
