23 weeks!!

Since you already know how big Lovebug is, let's do something different this week. Let's take a look at week 14 vs. week 23:

I have to say, I'm really enjoying this pregnancy. And I'm getting used to my new body very quickly, though it's starting to get uncomfortable to sleep and move around! My balance is not the same, I can't lay on my stomach, and I can only lay on my back for a little while or my right foot starts to go numb. So, I know things are about to get interesting! But thus far, this has been awesome!

Lovebug moving around as much as he does is such a blessing! It's always a sweet reminder of our little guy growing stronger. Though it's also a realization that I'll be chasing him around all the time! He moves a lot at night too, but never keeps me up (or not yet, anyways!), and it always makes me smile.

That's all I got!

Football season

Football season is here! And Lovebug wants to be a part of it. How, you ask? Well, by being the size of a football, of course!!

I have a football sized-baby inside my belly.... that's wicked!!

Anyways, I realized I haven't told you anything about Lovebug's growth in a while, so here's where we are:

The body of your baby is getting plumper but his skin is still fairly wrinkled due to the lack of subcutaneous fat. He's starting to drink the amniotic fluid he's floating in, and his digestive system is mature enough to absorb nutrients. And not only is your baby starting to drink and taste, but all of his sensory systems are maturing as well.

Your baby's face and body is looking more and more like those of an infant, the bones of his inner ear are beginning to harden and his pancreas is developing (the pancreas is very important in the production of insulin). Your baby's fingernails are almost fully formed and the lanugo (fine hair) that covers his body is getting darker.

At this point you’ve pretty much adjusted to the fact you’ve got a moving little gymnast inside of you, but now they’re going to kick up the party a notch because they can hear and react to sounds from the outside world. Your baby continues to grow in preparation for the journey of birth. You baby is now more than 11 inches long and weighs over a pound.

Judging by the somersaults I felt yesterday, I'd say he IS a little gymnast!!

Enjoy Football Sunday!

22 weeks!

Sorry about the delay, yesterday was just one of those days... We didn't have the camera cable, then we had a party... anyways.

This week I'll do a comparison between weeks 21 and 22, because there's something very different in my opinion. I didn't match them exactly as I usually do, but I think you can still see it. Here we go:

WHOA! Look at that belly moving up! Making some more room, I suppose! I'm really looking forward to the pics we'll take in Hawai'i, I'm sure we'll see big changes!

Oh, here's something interesting. I was watching the MTV VMAs last Sunday, and there was this tribute to Michael Jackson at the beginning. It was awesome, actually, if you didn't see it, youtube it if you can. Anyways, Lovebug really enjoyed it, he was putting on a show! Man, I was just laughing, he was moving around so much!

Furniture!

I forgot to tell you, we got Lovebug's furniture! We ordered from BRU the day I left (Tuesday) and by Friday they had it ready for pick up! We picked it up last Tuesday and it's now sitting in boxes in the nursery-to-be. YAY!

We saw this set the first time we went to BRU, and we loved it, it was definitely our favorite. I looked for other options online, but I didn't find anything I liked better in that price range. Here it is:

This is exactly what we got: the crib, dresser, and the dresser/changing table combo.

Thanks to those who have given us gift cards or similar so far! This is your gift for Lovebug.

What do you think?

21 weeks!

I know I'm late with the weekly picture. I'm sorry! But better late than never, right? Here we go:First of, I know I'm not wearing the blue tank. Well, it's still in the laundry basket... and you might not see it for a while, since it's getting so short! Instead, we have a green one, that as you can guess you won't be seeing for a while either!

I finally got maternity jeans, and I will not go back to regular jeans for the rest of the pregnancy. My new jeans are so comfy! No need to suffer any longer with unbuttoned and unzipped jeans, yay! (too much information, right?? I keep doing this! I apologize!)

There's another thing different about this pic. Do you see any bit of my long hair? No? Well, here's why:

That's right, I got a mommy haircut! Haha! And there's one of the gifts Lovebug got last week at the baby shower in Chihuahua. This one is not only cute (gotta love a red M&M!), but it was from Elizah (my cousin and matron of honor), so it's extra special!

The shower was a lot of fun, I'll post pics sometime this week... I promise!

That's all I got for now. I'll try to post those pics in the next couple of days!

20 semanas!! Desde Mexico

I'm tempted to write this one in Spanish since I'm in Mexico and about to enjoy my grandma's recipes for sweet tortillas and beans with the wonderful ladies of her family. But I want all of you to be able to read this and drool, haha!

Anyways, we're half way there! 20 weeks out of 40, yay!! Lovebug is growing strong and loving the food, hehe. Here's the pic of the week:

Yeah, ok, I look pregnant. I'm finally ready to admit it. Not only because everyone in my family has said so, but because a stranger noticed! More on that some other time.

This week, a little treat. I finally met my youngest niece. Natalia was born a few days after our wedding, so we didn't get to meet until yesterday, and today mom and I got to babysit for a little while. Here she is:

This is the one smile we got on camera from her. And after a while, she was soo tired she cried herself to sleep. This is how we ended up for a good half hour (didn't want to wake her)

Gotta go eat!

Baby Boy!

As you know, we had our big ultrasound today. It was great to find out our little baby is a boy! But there's more to this story than that. Here are some pics first, of our little Lovebug:

First of all, Lovebug is doing great! Everything is developing as it should, he looks healthy and happy! (moving around a lot!)

Second, he's a big baby! They take measurements to make sure he's growing properly and according to his "age". Well, he's a little ahead! He's measuring almost a week ahead, and according to the calculations he's heavier than he should for his age. Nothing to worry about, just means he's a big boy! The average weight for boys in the U.S. is 7 lb 4 oz. He might be heavier at birth... (gulp!)

Also, the placenta is in the back, which means there's little between Lovebug and my belly. That's why I feel him so clearly!

I have gained 6 pounds, which is right on target (and really, can you tell??), so things are going well. We have our next appointment in 4 weeks, we'll let you know if there's anything to report.

One more thing I noticed today. My belly moves. Yup, it looks like a scene from Alien, especially since my belly is still quite small (and so is Lovebug, really!). But it's still pretty cool to watch!! That'll give an idea of how active Lovebug is: I can see him from the outside. How cool is that??

It's a...

BOY!!!

Will post pics and further details later, just wanted to let you know!

19 weeks

I don't know if I'm any bigger... you be the judge:

So tomorrow is the big day! The big ultrasound day, that is. Hopefully Lovebug will cooperate and will give us a good view.

Our official guesses are as follow:

Lore says it's a boy!
Josh says it's a girl!

No, we're not trying to be smart here. Two nights ago I dreamt it was a boy, and Josh dreamt it was a girl last night. (Ok, I dreamt it was a girl last night too, but I'm sticking with my original dream!)

So, what do you think? Is it a boy or a girl??

Leave a comment and let us know what you think!!

I'll update the blog tomorrow afternoon with the big news!!
