I'll just do a little list, and hopefully I'll be able to expand on things at some point.
- C-section recovery: I'm healing well. Moving and getting around was tough at first, but that's not quite so bad now. I've learned better ways to get up so I'm not hurting myself all the time, and I'm feeling better.
- I get occasional moments of baby blues, when I just want to sleep and wish someone else would feed my baby. But overall I'm doing well, and the baby blues episodes don't last too long.
- My new thing is feeling stoned. Sleep deprivation is still my biggest challenge.
- Breastfeeding is going very well. Evan feeds like a champ, and other than doing cluster feedings during the day, he usually gets good feedings followed by a good 3-4 hour nap at night. It's not super easy, but definitely nothing to complain about since I know how hard breastfeeding has been for others.
- We started using our cloth diapers yesterday. Evan seems to be ok with them, which is great, but I will say prefolds are bulkier than I expected.
- If you plan on flying with your baby, be prepared to have whatever bottled milk you have tested. We were very surprised when airport security wanted to check our diaper bag. Turns out they needed to test our breast milk bottles... in case it was a dangerous chemical instead of milk. Go figure.
- Evan was sleeping like a champ during our trip to San Diego. He would wake up, feed, and go back to sleep immediately. Last night we went back to being awake for almost 2 hours. I wonder what about SD made a difference... I wish I knew.
- I know most of you know this, but we're moving to Friday Harbor, WA in April. Josh got a new job there, and we're really excited to live in an island, close to orcas and shorebirds. Yay!
- It's my goal to have something of a schedule set in the next 4 weeks. That's because after that, life will be crazy for a whole month. We're going to the East coast for family to meet Evan, 4 days after coming back we're going to WA to look for a place to rent, and 2 weeks after that we're moving, 1600 miles away. In my mind, having somewhat of a schedule by then will make things easier, even if it goes to hell during that month... I'll be so glad when the craziness is over.
- It has taken me most of the day to write this post. Now I have to figure out how to wake up Evan enough for him to feed, and hope he goes right back to sleep... wish me luck.
