So now you know why I've been trying to change a few things around here.
Such as my urgency of having Evan sleep through the night. I really think it'd be better for everyone if he gets a good 6 months of sleeping through the night before the baby is born (we need a nickname, don't we? "the baby" sounds so impersonal...) We're doing well, Evan wakes up once, sometimes twice, and if it's close to 3 am I feed him. He doesn't wake up again until 6-7 am. Maybe once we start formula he'll sleep better.
Which brings me to the next change. My plan was to breastfeed until he's one year old, but the pregnancy has changed that for two reasons. First, I don't want to slow baby's growth by breastfeeding. Evan will get over 9 months of breast milk, he'll be ok if we wean early, and I don't want to make things harder for baby or for my body. The second reason is purely selfish: I want a 6 month break before I breastfeed again. So I figured I would wean at 10 months, as soon as we start second trimester.
That means we need to get started. It's quite a process and it takes time, so we'll start by getting rid of just one or two feedings per day, and offer formula instead. We'll see how reacts to it...
